It’s easy to Love people who are good to you! Who treat you well. People who are kind and loveable. It would be very nice if all people were nice, loving people. Unfortuanately, they are not. It would be wonderful if, while you are on the path to God revealing things to your spirit, every person you met would wish you well, or join in on your journey. Unfortunately, they will not! There are so many people who are in a great deal of pain, and on certain days these people will, consciously or unconsciously, inflict their pain on you. My pastor use to say, “Hurt people, hurt people!” This is so true!

People will speak ill of you for no good reason. People will return your good deeds with unkind, unloving words and deeds. People will lie to you, betray your confidence, selfishly hoard your property, and if they are really hurting, they may physically strike out at you.

The human tendancy is to offer insult for insult, hurt for hurt, ill deed for ill deed. But God says to offer love for insult, love for hurt, love to everyone regardless of the ill they may have offered you. The human perspective is to hate you, take from those who have taken from you, harm those who have harmed you. The spiritual perspective is to recognize that the more unlovingly a person behaves, the greater is their need for love and healing.

If you should encounter angry words or unkind actions today, take a deep breath, reach deep within yourself and greet the lack of love with lots of love. It doesnt matter what you’ve done in the past. From today and moving forward lets make a choice to respond to unkindness with kindness. Lets choose to love.

43-47″You’re familiar with the old written law, ‘Love your friend,’ and its unwritten companion, ‘Hate your enemy.’ I’m challenging that. I’m telling you to love your enemies. Let them bring out the best in you, not the worst. When someone gives you a hard time, respond with the energies of prayer, for then you are working out of your true selves, your God-created selves. This is what God does. He gives his best—the sun to warm and the rain to nourish—to everyone, regardless: the good and bad, the nice and nasty. If all you do is love the lovable, do you expect a bonus? Anybody can do that. If you simply say hello to those who greet you, do you expect a medal? Any run-of-the-mill sinner does that.
