One step at a time~

Have you ever had moments like these; days; weeks; months? You feel Crazy!! Everything around is in shambles. Anything that could go wrong has or is going wrong. The bottom has fallen out! The roof is caving in!The walls around you are collasping! What am i going to do!!! You take one step at a time, in one direction, trusting that everything will be just fine. It won’t be easy, but if you trust that everything will be okay, it will be!
When everything appears to be falling apart, a chattering imp will find it’s way into your head. This annoying little pest will whisper things to you. The imp will point out every little detail of everything that is apparently going wrong. If that’s not enough to ratte your cage, the imp will give you a mental preview of how much worse things can get. The imp will bring to your mind things you never even considered, in an attempt to send you running off in ten directions at once. unlike people you can walk away from, you cannot get away from the imp because it is in your own mind. If you listen to the imp, you will eventually be convinced that there is a fire breathing dragon waiting at every turn to devour you. This is a manifestation of deceptive intelligence! What do we do! I have fought this battle my whole life!
Satan’s most frequent and consistent attack is directed against our minds. He sends his hosts out with an arsenal of weapons: lies, threats and intimidation, questions, accusations, lust and other enticements. The apostle Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 10:5 to “take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” The first two steps, “Knowing God” and “The Believer’s Identity in Christ,” are the beginning of that process. It is imperative that you fill your mind with TRUTH to counteract the lies you have been believing. You also have to confess specifically that you have been believing the lies of the enemy and ask God to forgive you and cleanse you. The apostle Paul tells us in Philippians 4:8, “Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.”
This is what God tells us to do; it won’t be easy at first but with God’s help we can claim victory. Im am putting one foot in front of the other. Take one step at a time, moving in one direction at a time, doing one thing at a time. More than this, YOU CAN NOT DO! The imp and the dragon will simply have to realize that your life runs according to your schedule and your ability. You are only able to take one step at a time. In the past; you may have allowed yourself to be pushed, pulled or be frightened into trying to do too many things at one time. Today choose one thing you MUST address. Focus on that one thing. Prioritize your steps. Take one step at a time. I am guilty of moving fast and furious but today i make a commitment to myself to moving slowly, carefully, and consciously in one direction to do one thing at a time!

You speak with wisdom and kindness. I like your choice of “imp”. Last year working for the Canadian Census the Crew Leaders I worked with had a theme, “One day at a time” to cope with the intense pressures of the job. This post is welcome inspiration for our Western culture that honours busy-ness more than peace of mind.

Emilie, You did a fab job at expressing the ‘imp” in our heads and yes, it is the devil to distract us and take us in his direction. but with the foundation of The Word, we can stay on track. stay focused, sweet child of God.
