Wisdom for my children!

Over the past ten years i have learned alot about me, life, and my babies. What i want more than anything is for my children to have a great life. To know how much they are loved and to always feel accepted and cherished. I’ve tried to instill into them wisdom to fully prepare them for life. Brittany is about to begin her senior year and i see her blossoming into a smart, beautiful, witty, very funny, independent young lady. I’ve always told her and Micah that there will be good and bad days, and that you should be grateful for them all. God always teaches us something in everyday that comes if we are open to it. They also know that they are always protected, and know matter what they do, they will always be loved. There is power in prayer; and im always praying protection over them both.

Life is full of wonder and excitement, and that is all available to them. I pray as Brittany graduates this coming year; she focuses on one thing at a time. Enjoy it, taking the most pleasant memories of it into the next experience. I ask her to be kind to all people; even when they are not kind in return. I ask them both to find something to appreciate about everything and everyone and focus on that. If you focus on the bad; it will be magnified in your life and drowned out all the good the person has in there life. When your appreciative; you get more to appreciate.

Both my kids know the only thing they need to rely on comes from heaven. People will always let us down but Jesus will always stick by our side. All they need to do is whisper his name and he hears. I also tell them to always tell the truth in a way they want to hear it; always give there best; and never doubt it wasnt good enough. Always remember where they came from and the people who helped them along the way.

God has blessed my family but even though we are blessed; i remind them that the best things in life are not things. They are people. Most importantly, i want my kids to know how important it is to honor what they feel. They both have a well-ordered mind; they are very smart; and that well ordered mind will never lead them astray, as long as Jesus Christ is always first in all things. Also it’s very important that my kids know that they should never be afraid to make mistakes, because mistakes; when evaluated, make masters!!

Submitting to authority is a big lesson for children of this generation. If a man can’t follow; he will never be able to lead. This is what im trying to teach my son. Commitment, determination, endurance, patience, and faith are much more powerful than speed, force, and physical strength. Im trying to teach him that people may not remember everything you do; but they will remember how you do it. Im also trying to teach him that the omission of information is the same as a lie. I tell both my kids that each day is a blessing and what you do with your blessings determines how you will be blessed.
I tell Micah to be willing rather than willful; to listen rather than being the first to speak; to be open to correction rather than unwilling to hear anothers point of view; and that the acumulation of material possesions is not the measure of success. I want Micah to know when he is older that a man who can’t laugh at himself is a danger to himself and others. A man who does not trust himself is a man who cannot be trusted; and a man who cannot be trusted is a man who cannot love! A man is what he thinks; and what he thinks is a reflection of what he holds in his heart. Most importantly; i want my little boy to know it’s okay to be vulnerable; because when you are vulnerable you are innocent. Innocence is a gift from God. All men start out as little boys who need information.

My kids are my life. I hope they will learn this wisdom and carry it with them through life. I can’t believe my Brittany is almost a high school graduate. My heart is happy today. I am one proud mommy! I am blessed!!
